We've seen the southern end of Woodside -- now let's visit the north! Join Kevin Walsh, Christina Wilkinson and Mitch Waxman of the Newtown Historical Society as we visit historic sites in northern Woodside such as a colonial-era cemetery and a former transportation hub, visit the site of a former major sports arena, tread in the footsteps of ancient colonial warriors and view colorful wall murals and other neighborhood oddities.

Woodside began as a rural settlement
in western Queens developed by Benjamin Hitchcock in 1867, taking its name from missives sent by longtime resident John A. F. Kelly, which were addressed as "Letters From Woodside." Surprisingly many of its ancient buildings are still intact, hidden under modern siding or other trappings of modernity.

The $20 admission fee includes a year's membership in the Newtown Historical Society and a 20-page booklet detailing the tour's highlights. $5 (cheap!) if you're already a member!
