2007
As in 2006 your webmaster wasn't able to attend this year's fishy festival held the first Saturday of every summer in Coney Island, but my Greenpoint ally Miss Heather and husband Sam did; together they were able to send off a few choice tidbits...
Miss Heather, proprietess of newyorkshitty.com, donned a costume simulating the titular substance. Ah, I hope it was just simulating it.

Ever seen Mr. Sardonicus? Maybe she did.
Here she comes, she's a maneater.

Past Mermaid Parades...

I know, I know. Short and sweet. Hopefully the FNY cameras will be back in action at the 2008 Mermaid Parade. No matter how much of Coney gets knocked down or built up...there will always be a Mermaid Parade.

Meanwhile, other photobloggers were out in force...

Flesh Gordon
Nice catch from a couple years ago

Also: Mermaid Ball at Childs Restaurant--the first time the historic terra cotta building has been open in 60 years

And of course dozens of parade videos!
