Sheridan Square is named for General Philip Sheridan, best known for his cavalry exploits and victories in Virginia's Shenadoah Valley in the Civil War and for later victories in the Indian wars. Sheridan hailed from Albany, NY. The square can be found at the confluence of Grove St., Christopher Street, Washington Place, West 4th Street and 7th Avenue South.
